Joni @ 65.

Joni Mitchell Just stumbled across Larry Aydlette's entry noting that Joni Mitchell turns 65 today. He points to Deno Lao's place, where he's collected "65 lyrical moments from Joni Mitchell songs."

Jim Fusilli recently called up David Crosby and had a pretty fine conversation about her for the Wall Street Journal. He also talks with Wayne Shorter about her work in the 80s.

Not film-related? But of course it is. Just ask Jim Emerson.

At any rate, here's the site to browse.

Oh, I love Joni. She, along with Anais Nin and Laura Nyro, have been the feminine triumvirate in my existence. I wish I could interview her. Anyone have any leads?

David, thanks for the mention. For what it's worth, Deno Lao is me, too. (My granddad's name.) I just keep longer stuff and color pics on that site, and black and white photos on my main site. What can I say? I enjoy being needlessly complicated.

Thanks again.

Ah, I see, Larry. Well, I think I'll leave it phrased as it is - most of all, thanks for the reminder!

I've always felt that...

"I've looked at clouds from both sides now,
from up and down, and still somehow..."

...Is the ultimate Jump Cut and crossing of The 180° Rule in lyrics. The original and the newest version of the song, both have that perfect flying bone cut to satellite of 2001 feeling. To me, anyway. Love that post!
