Interview. Isild Le Besco.
Charly, the second feature written and directed by the young French actress Isild Le Besco, screens just once more at the Tribeca Film Festival - this evening!
Writing in Premiere, Aaron Hillis calls it "enigmatic, homegrown and actually minimal... My only advice here is to keep your opinions to yourself until you've sat with this humble treat a couple days; it's a grower."
James Van Maanen talks with Le Besco about Charly's characters as aspects of herself and about the film she'll be shooting in September. Back in November 06, Jonathan Marlow spoke with Le Besco about the film she may be best known for in the States, Backstage.
Update, 5/4: Marcy Dermansky talks with Le Besco, too.
Update, 5/6: "With a haphazard visual look but remarkably sensual and cohesive mise-en-scène, young actress Isild Le Besco’s second fictional feature Charly is a continually intimate portrait of young dislocation," writes Daniel Kasman in the Auteurs' Notebook.
Update, 5/7: "The multi-talented French actress Isild Le Besco has joined Paul Dano and Brian Cox on the set of Dagur Kari's The Good Heart, currently shooting in New York," reports Annika Pham for Cineuropa.
