Online viewing tip. Ballardian Home Movies.
"I'd like to organize a Festival of Home Movies! It could be wonderful - thousands of the things... You might find an odd genius, a Fellini or Godard of the home movie, living in some suburb." That's JG Ballard in 1984, and ever since Simon Sellars came across that call, he's been anxious to heed it. Back in January, he announced the 1st Ballardian Festival of Home Movies; today, he unveils the winner: Ben Slater, whom you've seen filing the occasional dispatch right here at the Daily. Plus, a runner-up and more at BallardoTube.
Update, 3/3: For Time, Michael Brunton reviews Ballard's "slim and dignified autobiography," Miracles of Life: Shanghai to Shepperton.

Posted by: Ben Slater at March 2, 2008 4:19 PMThis is great - and a bit terrifying. I'd like more of these kind of festivals, peering out of the net curtains
