"Nearly a year after a whopping 50 percent hike in ticket prices (among other things) led to my full-page rant in the Post against the Tribeca Film Festival, the festival has done a major about-face and is taking the unusual step of cutting admission prices, as well as consolidating its venues and eliminating screenings as far north as 72nd Street," writes Lou Lumenick.

In the New York Sun, S James Snyder argues that "if this year's Oscar race is any indication, Tribeca has Sundance in its sights." The festival runs April 23 through May 4.

Update, 2/5: Rob Davis comments: "[T]here's less evidence that the lower-Manhattan fest is aiming to steal from Sundance than be its complement."
