Annies. Nominations.
"Ratatouille leads contenders for the Annie Awards honoring animation, picking up 13 nominations, among them best picture and voice-acting honors for Patton Oswalt, Ian Holm and Janeane Garofalo," reports the AP's David Germain.
The complete list.

Well, no terrible movies on the best feature list, and two that are way above average (in my opinion: Ratatouille and Persepolis), but, garsh, is there a reason - other than that it's a popularity contest - that Paprika is ignored in favor of the mediocre Bee Movie? And does this mean the same slight will probably happen come Oscar time?
And what about the short that ran before Ratatouille, which is probably funnier than almost anything else on the list?
Also: That Annies list page on their web site has a typo, it's Creature Comforts America not Creative Comforts America, from Aardman.
Posted by: Craig P at December 3, 2007 2:53 PMPaprika was eligible for Oscar last year, and thus won't be this year.
That scurrying sound you hear is that of Oscar prognosticators erasing Beowulf from their predictions list. Nope, motion-capture is still not actual animation.
Posted by: Brian at December 3, 2007 3:35 PMHm, but according to the Annies rules, at least, it should've been considered for this year's Annies...
" Entries submitted for consideration must be from productions that first publicly aired, or were exhibited in an animation festival or were commercially released in the United States between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007."
Its official US release was in June, no? Ah well. Not worth my getting all animated about it, I suppose.
