Online viewing and a tip.
You may remember Ray Carney's search for and discovery of the "first version" of John Cassavetes's Shadows; if not, he tells the story here, and I summed up the situation as it stood in May 2004. Now, in the middle of this page, he's posted three brief clips from that version.
On that same page, by the way, Carney is pointing to an archive at Euroscreenwriters featuring over 60 interviews with European filmmakers: "From the obvious masters like Kieslowski, Buñuel or Hitchcock to the modest contributors like Benigni or Andersson." Thanks, Alex!

Thanks David for the mention. I just got tired of keeping this thing totally to myself and couldn't resist sharing with a few others. Hope they enjoy it. Keep up the great work on the site! --R.C.
Posted by: Ray Carney at April 24, 2007 6:25 PMI just got through reading 68 pages of Ray Carney's Mailbag Letters. Some fantastic quotes in there to Copy and Paste! I saw lots of letters from friends, but sadly none of my numerous letters to Ray were worthy of posting, I guess.
(he said as he walked over the Ray Carney Shrine in the darkened corner of the empty apartment to remove books, pictures, candles and a doll made from strands of Carney's hair)
Still, the discovery of the "1st version" of John Cassavetes's "Shadows" and the possibility of seeing it, makes living worthwhile!
