Lists. Ferners.

Triple Agent A full list roundup is in the works - oh, they just keep coming, don't they? - but one issue David Poland brings up is worth singling out here: "I have over 40 films on my 'consider' list and only three are from other countries. And in my gut, I know that is wrong. Dead wrong.... But then I look at the MCN Top Ten chart and I have to say, I don't see a lot of the rest of the world there either."

Perhaps it's because, as Michael Atkinson writes at IFC News, "every year scores of films that might have, and should have, gotten honest projector time instead get their first 'release' in the US on DVD... [P]resently, a legal DVD disc cannot qualify for inclusion in critics' polls and award systems." So here's a welcome countermeasure: "Born to kvetch, I offer up my favorite dozen-plus-three straight-to-disc US debuts this year, the likes of which would fill up my year's top ten list if we were playing fair."

David's top ten, by the way, does include a few non-US titles - and is topped by Little Children.
