Berlinale. 1st 6.

Berlinale: Wettbewerb There are rarely all that many surprises in the first round of titles announced for the Competition lineup of the Berlin International Film Festival (February 8 through 18), but this first one's good news indeed:

A bit more on each of these films can be found here.

Updated through 1/9.

Also noteworthy: "The Apple Garage Studio is the new core of the Working Campus, taking the Berlinale Talent Campus into unmarked cinematic territory."

Update, 1/5: "Live Spectacle in the Forum: Isabella Rossellini as Narrator of Guy Maddin's Brand Upon the Brain! in the Deutsche Oper Berlin."

Update, 1/9: Check here for word from France on the opening film.

Though (as you well know David) I was disappointed with Gespenster, I'm really looking forward to Yella.

See you in February!

Very much looking forward to seeing you here! Will this be your first shot at seeing the Park Chan-wook, too?

Yes it is. However, as much as I love Park as a director, I'm skeptical about pop-star Rain's acting ability.

This is great news, thanks for posting it! Can't wait for the rest of the lineup. Being a big fan of your blog; will you be around for the Berlinale?

Oh, yes, I'll be there. Maybe we can arrange a gathering of Dailyites some late afternoon or early evening.

That would be great! I'm covering the festival for my (Norwegian language) blog/magazine Rushprint, and sharing thoughts on the festival and films in general would be cool.

Good, good - in the first week of February or so, once we've all had a chance to look over the schedule, I'll propose a time and place, maybe a couple of different options and we can work something out. Wunderbar.
