Amy Berg on reparations.

Deliver Us From Evil Kim Voynar: "We've reported on Cinematical about how your film stirred prosecutors' interest in [Cardinal Roger] Mahony and the LA Archdiocese. Do you think your film had an impact on the Archdiocese announcing [on Friday] a payout of $60 million to 45 abuse victims?"

Amy Berg, director of Deliver Us From Evil: "It is my understanding that the settlement was not 100% confirmed and that the church released this to the media before it is completely done and this has upset the survivors and their advocacy group. They basically woke up to this and read about their own settlement in the newspaper. Whose news was this to break?"

I cannot find "Deliver us from Evil" anywhere in the San Francisco Bay area.

Did it actually play here?

Was it a limited release?

Did it play here and was pulled because of pressure from the Catholic Church?

It did play in San Francisco at the Lumiere and other local area theaters. There were big feature articles and rave reviews in the local press. But as too often happens these days, there are so many movies opening each week that most smaller films get lost, coming and going under the radar. It is a sad situation. I am in this business and I miss films that play here too.

Also some people told me they thought it was a horror film, DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

I suggest you watch the Red Vic where it is sure to have a revival.

Les: It played the Mill Valley Film Festival and then had about a week's run at one of the Landmark cinemas, which is pretty customary for Landmark, and has nothing to do with pressure from the Catholic Church.
