I'm with you about Jeff Daniels, David. (Commented on same on my blog this morning...) I suppose he was partially a victim of a very strong year for actors, and perhaps playing a less likeable character than some of the others? Who knows. We never see the final results, the Oscar tally, and so can't know how close it was.

Agree fully about Daniels. Squid and the Whale is the best he's ever been. He completely inhabited that character (and the attached beard).
