The Constant Gardener leads the pack of winners at the British Independent Film Awards, picking up Best Film, Best Actor (Ralph Fiennes) and Best Actress (Rachel Weisz). A few other notables:

• Best Director (Neil Marshall) and Best Technical Achievement for The Descent.
• Best Screenplay (Frank Cottrell Boyce) for Millions.
• The Douglas Hickox (Debut Director) Award goes to Annie Griffin for Festival.
• Best Foreign Indie: Downfall.
• Best Doc: The Liberace of Baghdad.
• Best Supporting Actress/Actor: Rosamund Pike in The Libertine.
• Most Promising Newcomer: Emily Barclay, for her performance in In My Father's Den.
